#14 My Adventure

(Below the title "My Adventure," I say "TOB (for once)")

The closest thing I had an adventure would be in my backyard. My birthday was a super soaker fight, and there was no mercy. Tigi, Tejas, Ryan, Fred, my brother, my three neighbors, Evan, Nathan, and Jordan and I all had supersoakers. All of us had teams, but everyone kept changing sides, so you didn't know who you were supposed to shoot. With the $50 I saved up, I bought the biggest supersoaker there was, and had it for my party. It had two legs so you could put it on the ground and shoot. Jordan, who was 8, kept asking to try and when I let him use it the first thing he did was drop it, breaking the legs, and running home crying. I got a replacement, so it was okay. The reason I called this an adventure was because of all the chaos. Still, that birthday was awesome.

THOUGHTS
  • I will always fondly remember my super soaker birthday parties.
  • I'm surprised I didn't mention other friends I knew I loved back then. Were they there?
  • The MONSTER XL. I love her dearly. (And Jordan, I forgive you!)
  • Continuing my accidental political insight, who woulda thunk that I would connect my birthday to the the chaos that our troops face in Afghanistan, not knowing who to shoot because the sides keep changing?
  • Where were the girls?

#13 Payday

Today in Math we got to play board games. Kelly wanted to play Payday, so Kim C, Kim H, Jenny, Andrea, her, and I all played Payday. (It should only be 4 people). From the start there was a money shortage, but we played anyway. Whenever Andrea got mail, she sang the Blues Clues mail song. I think that during the game I was the only person who never went into debt, but I never had too much money, either. Most of the game was spent where I had only $5, while Andrea had $500, and the others fell in between. We kept landing on the town center, where everyone gives $50. We did that so much, that the jackpot was $1000. To get the money you needed to roll a 6, and for a long time nobody rolled on. Right before we had to leave, Kim C got the money and won the game. Still, Payday was fun.

THOUGHTS
Whoa. This article is awesome! Let me count the ways.
  1. We played board games in math class
  2. It was me playing board games with five beautiful women. That hasn't happened in high school...or college.
  3. I was still a kid who believed in authority...four players my arse!
  4. Good economics lessons? Too many people makes a money shortage. Not going into debt is good (that's something I wish I knew now). We live in an absurd world where an honest man has $5 and the girl who sings Blues Clues has $500. Socialism is evil because you throw away $1000 and it goes to Kim, not the town center.

#12 My Moms Birthday

(SECOND POST IN ONE DAY? THIS. IS. MADNESS! THIS. IS. SPARTAAAAAAAAAA! Seriously, today is Mom's birthday, so I wrote this entry about her a few years ago (almost) today. I would like to dedicate this post to my mom, Evagelia Mazur)

My mom sure has an interesting birthday. The party, if that's what you want to call it, since all we did was go to my grandmas and eat (good) food and cake, was not that exciting. Her actual birthday is today, but it was celebrated today. As the second wave of attacks hit Afghanistan, my family ate cake. I made a card on the computer, but the color cartridge died out so I had to hand color it. I also sent her an e-mail card; I don't know if she checked her mail yet. One of the presents my mom got was an alarm clock that could wake up the whole city, since it only has one volume setting — deafening. I hope my mom enjoys her birthday, I'll have to see when I get home.

THOUGHTS:
  • Proof that I was once a child and am now a man: I consider any time spent with family eating and talking to be one of the most exciting moments of my life. Thankfully we're all still pretty alive and I can continue to enjoy this gift.
  • Hrm...as an 8th grader, I didn't know my mom's birthday. Reading this entry, created October 7, means we celebrated the party a day or two before the 7th. Mom's birthday is October 8th. MORE PROOF THAT I WAS ONCE A CHILD AND AM NOW A MAN: I know Mom's birthday.
  • HOLY BALLS 8TH GRADER JUXTAPOSING FAMILY BIRTHDAY PARTIES WITH THE START OF THE WAR ON TERROR. I can't believe I did that...I certainly had some idea of what I was doing but I certainly didn't plan on giving myself shivers almost ten years later...wow...
  • Remember when e-mail cards were cool? What was the big site...blue...something or other? UPDATE: bluemountain.com. Woooooo!
  • Nice use of a semicolon, young Michael! This makes up for last post's mistakes!
  • "deafening!" My twisted sense of humor is developing at this age and doesn't really take shape until...senior year of high school during my unexplainable depression? Good for me!
  • I end on a run-on sentence...bummer.
  • Comment at the end: "I hope that she did too!"

#12 Never a Break pt. 1

WELCOME BACK MICHAEL! After a year of madness and lameness caused by the powers of cruelty and love, I'm sane and ready to share my past with you again!

Appropriately enough, the entry that resumes this Journal almost a year and a half after its creation is named "Never a Break pt. 1. Also in the new edition of EIGHT GRAGE LANGUAGE ARTS COMPOSITION BOOK, I will refrain from commenting on myself until the end of a post and will leave any spelling or grammar mistakes exactly as I wrote them back in the day.

HERE GOES! (and it feels good to be back...)

This weekend I had no time for my life. When I woke up Saturday I showered, at a quick breakfast, and almost immediately had to go to the Car Wash, which was fun, but with my busy schedule, I had to leave for dance lessons at 11:30, which didn't finish until 2, where I quickly ate a taco in the car for lunch, and then went home only to call Ryan for a game show meeting, where I would be while my parents, brother, and grandma would be apple picking. At Ryans, I stayed until around 6:30, where him, Sarah, and I worked on the music. When I got home, ate dinner, did homework and went to bed at 10:30. Sunday I woke up, ate breakfast, did more of the homework I had and went to church. As soon as church was over, my mom got Taco Bell, which we ate at home, but as soon as we finished eating we went to a Tigers game, (of course they lost) until 6, where I spent the rest of the night doing more homework, stayed up until 11 doing it, waking up at 6AM today, and still not being done.

Thoughts!
  • I spelled a few words wrong and had an incomplete sentence or two. Urp! I used "which" often, and Mrs. Spear would not be happy.
  • Ryan! Sarah! I still know you and love you! I need to get this note into Facebook and TAG you!
  • I mentioned DANCE LESSONS! I'm not embarrassed one bit by my dance lessons but I do feel like they happened in a different life. It's refreshing to know that I participated in them and enjoyed them (or at least didn't complain) not that long ago!
  • I eat often, too. I guess in a busy life full of responsibilities the acts of eating and performing those responsibilities are everything...but whoa! Quite a few too many meals in there for me to proudly admit now. Back then, I was overweight but not fat. Good for me!
  • We've all been paying attention to the Tigers and that painful, painful loss to the Twins in the 12th inning a few days back. It's good to know that even as a child, I expected our teams to fail, and that I continue to do so today.
